    The jury is out. Our experience on a maintenance call for our unit several years ago was excellent, so we looked forward to doing business when replacement time came.

    We replaced our unit, and our experience was very mixed. The salesman who worked with us was a shady character, and has since been fired. Apparently, he caused many, many issues, violating rule #1 of sales: never promise what you can't deliver.

    So, that part of the process was very, very negative. I like to think it was just this character, and the company's steps to remediate will restore confidence.

    I have yet to have a need for EH&C to step in and stand behind their work. So, I can't judge them yet.

    The unit we have appears to be working, although it seemed to struggle a little on an 85-90 degree day, but that might be the stepping motor behavior (runs at lower power until it decides it needs full power).

    I will neither recommend nor discourage folks from doing business with them. I believe they are reputable and that their dismissal of this person who caused us (and many others) so much trouble should be a good first step. Why someone was allowed to cause so many issues for so many customers, and was not detected ... that is a head scratcher.

    Install day was a mixed day, with some impressive things, and some "you have to be kidding" as well. The installers didn't quite know our type of system, and it was disconcerting to see them struggling with the blue, white and other wires to get things working.

    Make sure you get itemized details of whatever you buy BEFORE paying a penny. Have everything explicitly documented to the penny, including refundability.

    Make sure you really understand the nuances of high efficiency systems, and are OK with the changes you will need (an exhaust line through the foundation).

    Spec out the location of the exhaust line BEFORE paying a penny, making sure you are OK with it.

    Make sure you get every last document for the NJ rebate stuff as well, and make sure that EH&C gets the permits in order. This dubious salesman seemed to forget the whole permitting thing, and never sent it in until I started making calls to my township and to their company.

    I will follow up once I have more info, but for now, getting everything documented to the penny, know your facts, and really proceed carefully.

    I think EH&C is a good company, but I do not have sufficient evidence to back that up, and I want it to be true.

    A former employee was recalled to help clean up the carnage caused by the dubious salesman at the heart of our negative experience. Our permits were rapidly taken care of by this former employee. We passed inspection with no issues as well. If I exclude the experience with that clown, my experience with this company goes towards the positive side of things. As I wrote, be sure to get every cost, detail, etc. detailed out, not consolidated here or with any firm. Be sure to have CONTRACTUALLY shown how every aspect of the work will be done and paid. If you have any doubt on a single penny, or any aspect, don't put money down until things are crystal clear. I believe EH&C will restore its reputation having removed this idiot who fouled things up for them and us, and many customers. Our township commented that EH&C is usually very thorough and does good work, so this was a very positive piece of independent feedback on them.

    Due to a flood, I lost hot water heater & furnace. After repeat calls to PSE&G and waiting 2 days for service to no avail. Checked phone book for a local contractor. Called Edison and Cooling & received immediate, courteous and caring service & attention. I appreciated the prompt and excellent service. I will call Edison again for my heating / cooling needs.

    We have used Edison for 14 years since they installed the original A/C when our house was new. Installers were great, very courteous and exactly what we expected. When told that our house was recently painted they were very conscientious not to mark the walls. Job well done!!
